In case you were unaware, the unofficial official day is once again upon us thanks to Surfing Magazine and the Surfrider Foundation. Surf enthusiast or not June 20, 2001 represents a day that surfers and waterman from all over the globe welcome in the summer season by paddling out and catching a wave or two. The creators of ISD wanted the annual holiday to represent a time for surfers to give back to the ocean, they do this through encouraging both organized and unorganized beach clean ups and restoration projects. Switchfoot is hosting the sixth annual Switchfoot Bro-Am presented by Hurley which will be held at Moonlight beach in Encinitas, CA. on June 26th, 2010. The event includes a surf contest, live performances by a bunch of talented musicians, auctions the night before and afterparties all to benefit the local chapters of StandUp for Kids. On Saturday June 19 from 8am to 2pm, accompanied by live music, the Cardiff Patagonia store will be hosting their infamous surfboard swap. All sizes, shapes and prices, from historical collectors to garage sale beaters–you never know what you’ll find–be there or…be surfing. O, cant forget: free admission.

One time Walking On Water Outreach Coordinator and now all around warrior of the Movement in NYC, Mike Doyle, is holding a benefit concert here in SD. One of our clients, Sarah Hernholm of Wit Kids, is in the running for Oprah’s search for the next TV star. Oprah is hosting a search to find people who want to share their passion with the world and possibly be chosen to have their own show on Oprah’s new network.
